glacial ice, due to late summer.

Stark backlighting is necessary when capturing crepuscular rays and shadows to preserve highlights. Two or three separate bands of cloud are evident in the lower half of the frame, the largest of which show signs of nearing future precipitation, with the upper half containing smaller patches of varying density overhead. The overlook is illuminated by the sun over the Utah desert. A one-third sky afternoon where
mid-level clouds cut shadows onto the afternoon light. The desert landscape is vast and shadowed, but
the horizon is brightly lit.
