  • Slow sunrise of colors on high clouds stirring with shifting, brightening light

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Very small details in the sky in the desert dawn with a sliver of land. The interval used is one second. Slower clips can be more useful for applications such as relaxation and biofeedback. The mid-level clouds are positioned so other clouds do not block the light on the way to their underside.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    41 seconds and 28 frames.

    Scene notes:

Cumulus picking up more reddened light due to the angle of the sun. The light is post-sunset. Clouds at low and medium levels move in the same wind overhead and past. A three second interval is used.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    33 seconds and 21 frames.

  • 5 of 7 | Napali Coast beach sunset scene, includes sun going below horizon

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The mid-level clouds are in full sunlight just before and during the actual sun setting below the horizon. The continuation of another clip. The low-level clouds which only recently brought rain have largely evaporated, remnants now lit from the reflection of the ocean and filtered pink light. On the beach (bottom right) the sand is where the gentle waves culminate gradually.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    11 seconds and 24 frames.

    Scene notes:

… higher clouds at sunset. Post-sunset, underneath the clouds, the light is caught. Moving to the right, a gradual clearing of glowing mid-level clouds give way to Cirrus clouds still bright in the sunset light in the upper-right half of the frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    19 seconds and 11 frames.

  • Different cloud levels and densities in a blue-sky on the wind transforming on time

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A clip of Cumulus clouds (the lowest), Altocumulus clouds (the middle height level), and Cirrus of various kinds, such as Cirrocumulus. An example of how clouds also can move in different directions, the cerulean blue-sky has high air quality as the smaller clouds meander around.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    15 seconds.

  • Grand Canyon with the sun’s shade shifting on the red rocks below

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The sunset from Pike Creek Vista, Grand Canyon. The northwestward view shows the canyon stretching vast distances under the sky, which comprises the top quarter of the frame. Mid-level clouds shape the light above while the landscape shades itself, cliffs and precipices in the dark. The sun disappears below the horizon in this darkening scene. Original footage from 2005.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 13 frames.

  • Glowing lower level clouds on a blue sky

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Pink light on the mid-level clouds. Strong radiant light passes through the atmosphere to create underlighting for the slow clouds overhead with no horizon in frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 4 frames.

An original, recently remastered time-lapse of the sky with altocumulus clouds of the same type, resembling mackarel scales in shape.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    32 seconds and 22 frames.
