    Scene notes:

    Panning digitally upwards, while the mountains display four levels of cloud cover, with two on its peaks or flank. Altocumulus appears to follow the low clouds caught on the peaks, with the same amount of evaporation once over. The fourth layer is the high-altitude Cirrostratus, a layer of thicker Cirrus, not affected by the lower mountains.

    Scene notes:

    Cumulus picking up more reddened light due to the angle of the sun. The light is post-sunset. Clouds at low and medium levels move in the same wind overhead and past. A three second interval is used.

    Scene notes:

    Even the snow of the foreground is pink from the ambient light of the clouds. A fiery canvas ablaze with the day’s last minutes, streaks of vibrant crimson and passionate pink ignite the western sky. Below, a tranquil expanse of water mirrors the celestial drama, reflecting hues of rose and lavender. Silhouetted pines stand sentinel along the snowy banks, their dark forms a stark contrast to the luminous horizon. Distant, snow-capped peaks fade into a soft, ethereal blue, a gentle boundary between earth and the incandescent heavens. The snow continues in the distant mountain Mt Tallac (far away and at right).

    Sharp peaks up close: young granite spires and glacial erosive features are featured in the lower ragged third of the frame, while low clouds transform just overhead left-right. On the sheer stone cliff faces, shadows are clearly moving past. Drops of solid rocks give way to trees where the less steep terrain allows any growth.

    Scene notes:

    An example of what happens most evenings with clouds beyond the horizon. No light comes through below to illuminate. The thicker the cloud, the less light passes through it. A finely detailed Cirrus formation with interesting feather-like shapes. For periods of under-lighting, see almost any other clip in the Dawn and Dusk.

    Scene notes:

    A mostly clear dusk sky over the Inyo mountains lookout. The snow-covered ground is dotted with Bristlecone pines. In the distance, a vast mountain range that is part of the Sierra Nevada. One ridge and the furthest ridge create a ‘saddle’ mid-frame and may look like an unlevel horizon, but such is nature and the wild. The sky is deep into ‘blue hour’.

    Scene notes:

    …but holding lots of volume, has stark relief in the afternoon sky. An example of how towering Cumulus hit mid-level altostratus clouds. The dense cauliflower-looking clouds are indicative of stronger convection. This is the process of storm formation, where updrafts are apparent in high humidity.
