Time-lapse length (30 fps):
…with city lights behind, aircraft taking off into the sky. An observer on the Marin Headlands
sees much of the city from one view, where the bay enters the ocean in the other direction.
Spanning the bay is the bridge, cars speeding along as they always do. As night falls, the
lights glow reddish, the blues of blue hour change, and the airplanes take off in the sky,
which comprises about a sixth of the frame. Ships are seen coming through the bridge and
leaving, such as a tugboat escorting a cargo ship.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
24 seconds and 8 frames.
… both directions and airplanes taking off in the night sky. A constant flow of traffic pours through
both ways of the Golden Gate Bridge over the bay, which lightly reflects the lights of the bridge
itself. Airplanes, passenger liners are seen taking off and veering to the right throughout in the
sky at upper portion of the frame this cloudless evening. The lights of the radio towers on Twin
Peaks just left of the right pillar on the bridge rise high, a few miles away. The bay appears to be
pouring in water constantly on the top surface.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
7 seconds and 25 frames.
Bridge with lightest fog obscuring a city view. On the opposite of the historical bridge, a fog layer
persists, blowing through the traffic (right) and concealing the city beyond (left).
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
18 seconds and 16 frames.
… after-sunset lighting on high clouds. This mid-level cloud layer dominating the sky with small patches has clouds resembling Lenticulars. If the layer of cloud were thicker in its altitude, the lens shapes would be more apparent. A wispy row of Cirrus is absorbed in the cooling sky, pink colors fading with them, and below on the surface, a highway curves by a skyline of Sacramento, and extend west with lights of individual cars passing by in hyper speed; 90 x 60 mph = 12900mph apparent ‘playback’ speed. 90 represents the speed of the time-lapse over ‘real’ time. The Time-lapse length of the clip at 30 fps is eight seconds and ten frames.
A majestic mountain, Mt Rainier has a batch of Cumulus clouds on two flanks this sunny morning.
Shadows from them moving over the snow. These are their normal altitudes. The dormant volcano rears
up above the alpine, snowy meadow of the foreground. The clouds find the mountain insurmountable, and
minuscule cars are seen in the middle of the frame, adding slightly to the interest. A three second
interval is used.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
38 seconds and 4 frames.
…overbright areas fade as the sun sets away from the point-of-view. Looking east in the late
afternoon, you can observe ‘the City’ from afar, behind the long red bridge. Wind on water currents
make ripples, as is the traffic on the 101 Highway that spans the bridge. Shadows become longer as
the sun sets first on the foreground grassy slopes, and then the ocean bay.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
13 seconds and 20 frames.
In a sky that is perfectly clear of clouds, a small mountain valley with a single ridgeline sloping
downwards gently further in the distance, which is lit by the sun slightly longer than the foreground.
The sky quickly turns dark into a night sky, with lights from cars on a road passing, and planes
flying. Over the course of the clip, several hours pass. Facing east at sunset and blue hour is less
typical if this collection.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
16 seconds and 6 frames.
Looking down a side-street in mid-town San Francisco at a view of several large buildings including a
sharply-pointed skyscraper called ‘Transamerica Pyramid’, an ominous looking building of office space
and nearly 900 ft (300 m) tall. Busy city streets, with mid-2000s cars, cross paths, as traffic
alternates turns moving with the traffic lights. This side street the observer looks down is dimly
lit and mostly empty, a steep downward slope.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
32 seconds and 8 frames.
The brick-red Golden Gate Bridge spans the frame, never-ceasing traffic flow pouring through. Under,
beyond, and before, ships of all sail, motor, and port into the bay. Observe baby-sized waves on the
headlands below, made apparent by the time-lapse.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
26 seconds and 18 frames.
From a unique viewpoint on Yerba Buena island, the Bay Bridge has two directions of traffic on
different levels, and is a gateway into the city. The skyline is silhouetted on the evening light.
The daylight is left with the sun and transitions to night, and thousands of cars and vehicles pass
through the bridge during this time.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
13 seconds and 10 frames.
An original, recently remastered time-lapse of the sky with clouds.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
6 seconds and 26 frames.
A bright marine fog layer slowly evaporates around the Golden Gate Bridge, a small ship is seen
exiting as the fog recedes. The Marin Headlights are exposed to day in the middle ground between this
point of view and the bay.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
9 seconds and 16 frames.
A fog manages to cling to visibility moving into the bay, especially on the left of the frame, and
shadows rise from the headlands on the hills. A cargo ship is seen mid-way through the clip exiting
the bay. The city is fully visible in the distant left.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
13 seconds and 1 frame.
