Altocumulus mackerel undulating, casting. An extremely large ‘arete’ shape on the mountain across the valley, massive and snow covered, formed from glaciers on both sides creating an axe-shaped ridge. Like the scales on a Mackerel, the mid-level clouds cast shadows on the vista of mountains beyond, wooded with evergreens and snow, as the town of Banff sits below-right. Time-lapse length (at 30 fps): 5 seconds and 25 frames.
Lenticular cloud formations, underneath higher Cirrus clouds, shift and meander in the late day sky,
far above a desert valley, a quarter of the frame.

The stony cliff edge that is the foreground is being moved over on a dolly, observing flowing fog
that is caught and rapidly flowing over the cresting hill’s ridge below.

European beach grass imported to protect the sand dunes of an Oregon beach 90 years ago. If left
unchecked, the grass will change the dunes into woodland. High Cirrus clouds slowly move overhead. A
small portion of the frame reveals the ocean (left).

Cirrus clouds float undisturbed over aretḗ (French for this terrain feature which has no English
counterpart) mountain peaks (center). The southern facing cliffs (right) are largely free of snow,
while others still retain a great deal of it. Cornices shed fresh snow in high wind (middle peaks).
The sky comprises a third of the frame, with the sun visible late clip.

…a medium for optical halo illusion around the high sun. Cirrostratus at the correct density and
altitude will create a halo optical effect around the sun. These conditions are generally perfect for
jet contrail formation. A full-frame, 14mm lens is used.
