  • 1 of 2 Facing west at sunset from a viewpoint…

    Scene notes:

…light rays through darker clouds slowly shifting. Because of a small patch of open sky, the sun breaks free into the valley below in between dense cloud cover of Cumulus type. Far in the distance is the barely visible horizon, which is cloaked in cloud shadow. This is the second clip in a scene of a few that were taken within the same 90 minutes.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 18 frames.

  • Pink clouds Hawaii coastline and jungle mountains…

    Scene notes:

…with the yellow sand beach in the foreground. Looking north there is a small Cumulonimbus cloud over the Napali coast. In this short timespan time-lapse there is the light of the sun fading as it goes below the horizon and clouds far away from this beach. The warm day provides plenty of lift and vapor for these clouds, which keep their shapes well as they run into this lifting of air right above the coastline.

  • Rainbow on Hawaii coastline and jungle mountains

    Scene notes:

…with beach in foreground. Kauai is the furthest west island of the Hawaiian chain, and on the furthest western beaches, nature has been left to prevail; although trucks ride on this lesser known beach, it has a big enough area to accommodate the people enjoying the solitude and beauty that is reminiscent of prehistory. A rainbow stretches and begins its second bow as conditions are nearing perfect for this formation; the rain is at the right distance with the sun being at the correct angle in the sky near sunset. As the day grows older the rainbow is more likely to appear, until a period before sunset when it is very likely to encounter clouds on the horizon, as it was apparent in this scene to the observant during filming using two or three second intervals.

  • Overhead clouds grow towering and darker…

… as they are seen from below, moving away from POV. An original, renewed time-lapse of the sky with clouds.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    9 seconds and 2 frames.

  • 1 of 2 Morning congestus cloud seems to blossom in daylight heating above distant trees

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… in daylight heating above distant trees. A growing, towering Cumulus before a wider stratus cloud that is far greater in volume. Stratus clouds like these may have formed initially from ground heating. Such smaller rain clouds may spread out to turn into a layer (a stratus) instead of being pushed along with a surviving core to regenerate. In these local pockets of rising air, the humidity around the cloud condenses into visibility.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    10 seconds and 22 frames.

  • 2 of 2 | Morning congestus cloud seems to blossom…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… in daylight heating above distant trees. Birth of a Cumulonimbus, a rising congestus carrying enough moisture to darken and sprout rain while it grows nearer. This exemplar of a congestus, a towering Cumulus cloud that has not become a Nimbus, reaches higher and higher into the sky until the day has become cloudy with a high chance of precipitation. Often other low stratus clouds obscure clouds like this, but they are quite common.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    23 seconds and 1 frame..

  • 1 of 3 Low clouds moving at night over mountain range in moonlight

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Sometimes a high wind gust will come along and cause the tripod to move slightly. In these rare instances, the clip may be stabilized digitally or divided in two. This shot of the Alabama Hills at night under a nearly full moon has a cut that divides the scene into two clips, one with a longer shutter speed.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    9 seconds and 78 frames.

  • Cumulus nearby Bridalveil Falls viewpoint, Yosemite…

    Scene notes:

…National Park. A famous view over a canyon valley vista with waterfall in the afternoon 1 of 2. Above the side-road parking lot, overlooking Yosemite Valley on a perfectly fifty percent cloudy day there is a POV. High up on a trail away from the tour buses, a maintained path leads straight up the hill face, warm and dry ground on this day. these cumulus meander in the general direction of the wind, their shadows moving along the greenery and granite of these steep cliff faces and arched domes in the distance, Half Dome, still with the bits of snowy outcrops on its very top.

    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    20 seconds and 27 frames.
