    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The sun sets below as lower clouds float quickly and change as they make their way past the camera overhead in the illumination of the evening sun, colors shifting as time moves on to the ‘blue hour’.

  • Fog stratus flowing on gentle air currents under some upper-level stratus

    Scene notes:

Many clips of Precipice are like one another, and some share the same scene at different times. All Precipice clips take place on a steep drop-off, even if that drop is out of frame. They all have in common a cloud or fog layer either at below the point of view’s elevation and are at or near sunset.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 13 frames.

  • 1 of 2 | Late day Yosemite winter transforming into sunset

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A winter view of Yosemite valley: a very small stratus of fog on El Capitan’s ridge plays slowly as the shadows rise at an also slow pace. The water of Bridalveil Falls still pours near the right of the frame, mostly shadowed by the land at clip’s end. Evergreen trees reside on every surface that is not too steep to grow on, and the valley becomes Tenaya Canyon further out, snow becoming more fulsome.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    11 seconds and 2 frames.

  • Rain cloud looms above at sunset as the sky is enveloped in a tinged storm

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Panning downward slowly, a slow moving rain cloud complex over a plan during dusk. Rain can be observed in the distance at the very bottom of the frame, as well as a distant tree line. The clouds range from strongly tinged pink to Halloween orange as the sunset progresses.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    17 seconds and 12 frames.

  • A thunderstorm cloud high in the sky and in..

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

In the distance, transforming on convective currents. Very strong convection is shown building upwards and towards the point of view. Rain came shortly after the end of the clip. The pines and other tropical trees make the horizon on the very bottom of the frame. The storm towers many thousands of feet into the sky.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    15 seconds and 13 frames.
