  • Some light mid-level clouds over colorful…

    Scene notes:

… Painted Hills lingering above other hills of remote eastern Oregon. Arrowleaf balsamroot, yellow flowers, comprise much of the foreground space. The Painted Hills, remote and unique, are sandy dunes under lower-level clouds in the sky. The surrounding meadow hills look gentle and are all-green.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 22 frames.

  • Flying over unique sand dunes and shrublands…

    Scene notes:

Over sand dunes with shrublands on the right. The shadows of the nearby fog, passing on the ocean breeze, float by quickly as it unexpectedly comes in on return. The dunes don’t show a low amount of human impact- but a definite impact, nonetheless. The sky consists of the top seventh of the frame and is a mix of stratus layers under blue sky. The frame pans downward digitally from the sky.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 15 frames.

  • Over small sand dunes 100m away, the ocean below

    Scene notes:

…some fair-weather clouds in the midday blue sky. The shadows of sand dunes slowly creep longer on the sand. The ocean stretches away into the distance to the right. European beach-grass was introduced in the early 20th century- but its spread poses changes to the dune’s existence themselves. Its ability to live in sand is a double-edged sword for the local ecology. A largely cloudy Cirrus sky in the top third of the frame moves inland towards the right of the frame, but it has not yet fully shaded the foreground and beach beyond until late in the clip.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    15 seconds and 5 frames.

  • Death Valley landscape with sand dunes with shadows creeping up mountains

    Scene notes:

A slow desert scene featuring a few high clouds and arid sand dunes below. The sand dunes comprise ABOUT of half the frame. The distant mountain ridges occupy one fifth. The peaks of Black, Funeral, and Grapevine mountains are off to the east in the distance. The shadows on the ground in particular become longer.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    10 seconds and 21 frames.

  • Beyond and above mini sand dunes tufted with grass, lightest clouds float by

    Scene notes:

European beach grass dominates the frame, the mid-level clouds in the top-right third of the frame, and sand in the lower quarter of the frame, shaded by the clouds on and off.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 6 frames.

  • On sand dunes with the ocean far off in distance, grasses under upper Cirrus cloud

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

European beach grass imported to protect the sand dunes of an Oregon beach 90 years ago. If left unchecked, the grass will change the dunes into woodland. High Cirrus clouds slowly move overhead. A small portion of the frame reveals the ocean (left).
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 22 frames.
