  • Flight over jungle canyon as clouds flow smoothly…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… on mountainous coast casting shadows that move by on the canyon floor and walls. Under an azure sky filled with low-level clouds, the UAS moves through the Hawaiian canyon outside of Waimea National park. The jungle gives way to sheer cliff face and is seen below with a creek moving through the canyon that it carved. Interval: three seconds. Movement: three to four feet per second in real-time.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 26 frames.

  • Floating over the Pacific Ocean shore with waves flowing on rocks below

    Scene notes:

Moving south, the UAV points down to a broken fog bank, which is breaking on the rocky shore from beyond. Glistening far below, waves move towards the headlands and rocky outcrops. White foam on the rockiest areas as well as further out where the waves break.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    37 seconds and 6 frames.

  • 1 of 2 | Low clouds flow smoothly on mountainous Napali coast mountains

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Some of the biggest shield volcanoes on Earth created the Hawaiian island chain, which are completely separate from the main continental plates which shape so much of the rest of our world. As such, it seems fitting for Hawaiian to be an exotic and often otherworldly place. For being so new, the islands are, mostly, so green. The verdant landscapes are covered in jungle all the way to their peaks where the cliffs are nearly sheer. The dense woods are home to so many fruiting plants like mango, tart guava berries and sweet pineapple grown for millennia by the indigenous people. With clouds flowing and appearing to get ‘tripped up’ by this peak near center-frame, fog joins the cloud and vice versa, with no clear boundary between. Every visible air current from the orographic lift effect can be seen on the outer cloud.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    9 seconds.

  • Shadows flow smoothly on mountainous Napali coast mountains

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The shoulders of this steep hillside or mountain side is one of many cloaked partially by rain and cloud. A significant mass of damp air gets caught on these features almost daily, due to the temperature and humidity of the island which is owed to the location of Hawaii on the Earth. A bare amount of cerulean sky is visible, but the scene is mostly cloudy.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 27 frames.

  • Cumulus nearby Bridalveil Falls viewpoint, Yosemite…

    Scene notes:

…National Park. A famous view over a canyon valley vista with waterfall in the afternoon 1 of 2. Above the side-road parking lot, overlooking Yosemite Valley on a perfectly fifty percent cloudy day there is a POV. High up on a trail away from the tour buses, a maintained path leads straight up the hill face, warm and dry ground on this day. these cumulus meander in the general direction of the wind, their shadows moving along the greenery and granite of these steep cliff faces and arched domes in the distance, Half Dome, still with the bits of snowy outcrops on its very top.

    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    20 seconds and 27 frames.

  • Afternoon on Yosemite Valley snowy river and clouds…

    Scene notes:

… orographically building on cliffs above. Snow falling in Yosemite Valley looking southwest, in an opening by the river. The snow covers the ground; trees loom on the left before the cliffs which have clouds piling up and past the sheer face of rock. The clouds also pour over the right-side monolith, the sun behind them, and in between the rapid vapors are patches of open sky. Farther out are more cliffs under the same majestic clouds. Slightly higher than the low clouds are other thinner clouds that roam in the opposing direction against the deep blue.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 18 frames.

  • Late afternoon land sea traffic around Golden Gate

    Scene notes:

The brick-red Golden Gate Bridge spans the frame, never-ceasing traffic flow pouring through. Under, beyond, and before, ships of all sail, motor, and port into the bay. Observe baby-sized waves on the headlands below, made apparent by the time-lapse.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    26 seconds and 18 frames.
