  • The Golden Gate at night with traffic flowing…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… both directions and airplanes taking off in the night sky. A constant flow of traffic pours through both ways of the Golden Gate Bridge over the bay, which lightly reflects the lights of the bridge itself. Airplanes, passenger liners are seen taking off and veering to the right throughout in the sky at upper portion of the frame this cloudless evening. The lights of the radio towers on Twin Peaks just left of the right pillar on the bridge rise high, a few miles away. The bay appears to be pouring in water constantly on the top surface.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 25 frames.

    Scene notes:

A single, silhouetted cloud at the left of the frames is absolutely dwarfed in comparison to very active electrical storm. It grows rapidly as it nears the point of view. At lower right, the palm trees are by the side of the road, which lights from cars pass by rapidly.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    11 seconds and 2 frames.

  • Moonlit night with heavier clouds above a desert

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

…Landscape and highway with cars headlights, comatics. Car headlights travel quickly along the highway, which is at the foot of some mountainous foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The moonlight provides illumination to the towering, massive clouds overhead, and the orangeish headlight brightening of the lower portion of clouds is observable.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 10 frames.

  • 2 of 2 Clouds at night illuminated partly by city…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

City lights under stars, aircraft flying over. The Big Dipper, the famous constellation, is observable at the top of the frame. The lower left corner has stratus clouds, but the sky is otherwise clear. A couple of airplanes can be seen flying through, under a starry night sky with a long exposure of several seconds and interval of just as much time.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    25 seconds.

  • 1 of 2 | Foothills under a night sky of clear stars

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The sky, three-quarters of the frame, is full of stars, and the high foothills that comprise the start of the southern tip of Sierra Nevada build towards the right side. Light pollution in the bottom left of the frame lights some thin clouds, which move slowly against the spin of the planet.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 19 frames.

  • Above Jasper Park mountains, dim aurora and night sky

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A small portion of the frame has the mountains silhouetted on the Northern Lights. The other roughly 95 percent of the frame comprises stars. The Aurora flash stochastically as the long exposures span the length of time that the light intensifies and dims.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 21 frames.

  • Night in a snowy valley with a road and traffic under clouds

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The lights of Banff light up the park’s sky of the same namesake at night, yellow street lighting bright and pollutive of the night’s clarity. They add a yellowing to the stratus clouds of the cold night sky, and the stars do not penetrate the light; this is an exemplar clip of what night pollution does. A moonlit night may have shown the shapes of the clouds in a natural light. Cars are seen traveling in streaks and the mountains are partially lit up by the city lights, as they have since the time the town has swelled as a popular ski resort town.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    21 seconds and 20 frames.

  • San Francisco Bay Bridge traffic at dusk with skyline behind traffic and bay

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

From a unique viewpoint on Yerba Buena island, the Bay Bridge has two directions of traffic on different levels, and is a gateway into the city. The skyline is silhouetted on the evening light. The daylight is left with the sun and transitions to night, and thousands of cars and vehicles pass through the bridge during this time.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    13 seconds and 10 frames.
