  • Canadian Rockies, Banff snowy mountains under…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Altocumulus mackerel undulating, casting. An extremely large ‘arete’ shape on the mountain across the valley, massive and snow covered, formed from glaciers on both sides creating an axe-shaped ridge. Like the scales on a Mackerel, the mid-level clouds cast shadows on the vista of mountains beyond, wooded with evergreens and snow, as the town of Banff sits below-right. Time-lapse length (at 30 fps): 5 seconds and 25 frames.

  • Winter light rays on fog shining through frosty…

    Scene notes:

Snowy, frost-kissed branches which create shade. An exemplar of the beginning of winter in Oregon’s forest. Sopping wet Spanish Moss hangs from several thin branches is illuminated brilliantly in complex light rays, created from fog moving in and out of the scene. They stretch left-right from the small tree. More hanging beards of Spanish moss on the right help to create these shadows, and the sun slowly moves in the bright pale blue-sky that is barely seen behind these evergreen trees in the forest beyond.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    15 seconds.

  • Short time-lapse of fog shifting heights on frost…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Frost covered, mossy trees, all on a forest slope. A distinctly Oregonian forest, with moss and trees covered in a moving fog that is just the same altitude as the point of view. Panning downwards from frost-covered moss of a defoliated tree, before the many pines and cypresses of varying age and size. At bottom and left of the frame, ferns and mossy trees make the forest carpet, sloping steeply downwards, with other limbs and trunks coming out of and back into the cold winter mist of pristine air quality.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    4 seconds.

  • Half-frozen Tioga Lake view of Mt Lyell…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… under some very light transforming clouds and shade. North of Yosemite Valley is the highway to connect to the other side of the state. This Tioga Pass Road is closed much of the year due to snowfall. The snowy landscape vista stretches out to Mt Lyell of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, which passes through the National Park.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    14 seconds and 2 frames.

  • Macro lens footage of ice melting close-up

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Exemplar scene of a fresh patch of ice melting rapidly in the sun on lichen covered rocks. This scene with no sky is an exception to the normal sky footage. This is a macro shot, with the ice just an inch or so from the lens.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    6 seconds and 8 frames.

  • Snow melting on small mushrooms hiding under shadows

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A fifteen second interval is used to capture the compacted snow melting, with shadows of the vegetation moving over three smaller mushrooms, with one largely hidden in shadows; the snow takes on an icy appearance as it melts.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 16 frames.

  • Panning on a winter alpine forest, lake, and mountains

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

An original, recently remastered time-lapse of the sky with clouds.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    5 seconds and 9 frames.

  • 2 of 2 | Panning past icicles and moss in the forest where shadows move

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Panning right, the icicles the frame is moving over drip as they slowly melt, and the shadows from the trees move over the snow and mossy ground; and a diagonal trunk, leaning from the hillside, casts a shadow across the frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    14 seconds and 2 frames.
