    Scene notes:

From a Cyan Blue to a pale dusk color, the sky turns dark at sunset. In foreground at center zooming in is an old oak tree the same color as a Hemlock. In the far background lower frame, coastal hilly shrub lands are shaded in magic hour after the light moves below horizon. Facing south at sunset a Lapis Blue.

    12 seconds and 29 frames.

  • Virga, evaporating rain, clouds on hills at sunset

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Bright Cantaloupe highlights in the bright precipitation of these stratus clouds, and Halloween orange colors on the fading rain at right of the frame. Silhouetted bare ridges in the lower quarter, under these clouds that darken in as time progresses, the open sky a perfect Mid-blue.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    10 seconds and 15 frames.

    Scene notes:

Canyonlands, Utah, near the Anticline Overlook, where a long rocky road leads to these sudden cliffs and viewpoint. Far below at right, a canyon is completely shadowed. In the foreground, a three-sided precipice of a rocky outcrop. The left frame has a sheer cliff face of several hundred meters, as it slowly brightens.

  • On steep mountain cliff peaks, morning clouds grip…

    Scene notes:

… the slopes and loiter on almost no wind. One may assume on first viewing a few seconds of watching the stratus is inevitably going to override the sky, but that does not happen; instead, the clouds are caught and created on the mountain peaks. Four snowy peaks, with one dominating the left quarter, in deep snow, are intermittently covered. The other three have sheer faces too steep for any snow to cling to. The light turns pinker as time moves on.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    22 seconds and 14 frames.

  • Stable air around Mt Si in Washington has a low fog…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… level with low wind, transformation. Once an active volcano, this profile captures its dome shape that is prominent from this green meadow. These gentle slopes seem like the only way to traverse the top without technical gear. This morning sky has no clouds. A three second interval is used. The meadow is around one quarter of the frame, and a tree line has a variety of broadleaf and evergreens, while the mountain itself looks solid green from trees. A stable blanket of ground-fog moves left-right, slowly meandering, with a few fragments closer and higher in the frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    16 seconds and 1 frame.

  • Behind a river that flows from the point of view, geysers release steam under pink sky

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The Yosemite River flows through the scene of many steaming geysers that span the frame. The mid-level sunset clouds catch the light of the sunset, while the river reflects their light.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 20 frames.
