  • Vancouver, cityscape Canada under clouds

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Slowly panning on distant mountain background with Mt Seymour mountain. North of Vancouver, the view is under building lower-level clouds. In the lower valley behind some trees, downtown Vancouver can be seen, as can a rotating construction crane, far in the distance at lower-right. A three second interval, the sky is about one tenth blue at times. Significant uplift from wind on Mt Seymour drives these clouds. This is called the orographic effect.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    16 seconds and 14 frames.

  • Behind some trees, Lake Tahoe and a pink sunset of Cirrus

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Even the snow of the foreground is pink from the ambient light of the clouds. A fiery canvas ablaze with the day’s last minutes, streaks of vibrant crimson and passionate pink ignite the western sky. Below, a tranquil expanse of water mirrors the celestial drama, reflecting hues of rose and lavender. Silhouetted pines stand sentinel along the snowy banks, their dark forms a stark contrast to the luminous horizon. Distant, snow-capped peaks fade into a soft, ethereal blue, a gentle boundary between earth and the incandescent heavens. The snow continues in the distant mountain Mt Tallac (far away and at right).
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    27 seconds and 23 frames.

    View with alternate video source

Active geysers vents huge amounts of water vapor in the morning sky next to a flowing river. The plume ranges from bright pink to gold and ranges in brightness due to a cloud off-camera blocking the light momentarily.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    50 seconds and 12 frames.

    20 seconds and 24 frames.

  • San Francisco Bay Bridge traffic at dusk with skyline behind traffic and bay

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

From a unique viewpoint on Yerba Buena island, the Bay Bridge has two directions of traffic on different levels, and is a gateway into the city. The skyline is silhouetted on the evening light.
