    Scene notes:

… under some very light transforming clouds and shade. North of Yosemite Valley is the highway to connect to the other side of the state. This Tioga Pass Road is closed much of the year due to snowfall. The snowy landscape vista stretches out to Mt Lyell of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, which passes through the National Park.

    Scene notes:

…the night sky is seen in deep dark colors of stars. After a while the sky awakens as the bright moon just before dawn, sends pink colors captured by long exposure on Mt Whitney and surrounding peaks.

    Scene notes:

On a hill view just north of Akureyri, Iceland. Looking across the inlet to mountainous landscapes in a fog layer of stratus cloud. The low clouds move along, and a partial rainbow briefly forms in the sky from precipitation. The dawn is pinkish on the low clouds, facing west at sunrise, away from the sun. A three second interval is used.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    16 seconds.

    Scene notes:

cast shadows on the trees and meadow below. From within the park valley, Half Dome looms above the trees on the right-side of the frame. An imposing monolith rises on the opposing side, this forms a section of canyon with ninety-degree cliffs on both sides and a river in between them. Very light passing fluffy clouds meander in the cerulean blue sky. Not a long way behind the trees the valley turns in to Tenaya Canyon.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    33 seconds and 17 frames.

  • Pink clouds Hawaii coastline and jungle mountains…

    Scene notes:

…with the yellow sand beach in the foreground. Looking north there is a small Cumulonimbus cloud over the Napali coast. In this short timespan time-lapse there is the light of the sun fading as it goes below the horizon and clouds far away from this beach. The warm day provides plenty of lift and vapor for these clouds, which keep their shapes well as they run into this lifting of air right above the coastline.

  • Rainbow on Hawaii coastline and jungle mountains

    Scene notes:

…with beach in foreground. Kauai is the furthest west island of the Hawaiian chain, and on the furthest western beaches, nature has been left to prevail; although trucks ride on this lesser known beach, it has a big enough area to accommodate the people enjoying the solitude and beauty that is reminiscent of prehistory. A rainbow stretches and begins its second bow as conditions are nearing perfect for this formation; the rain is at the right distance with the sun being at the correct angle in the sky near sunset. As the day grows older the rainbow is more likely to appear, until a period before sunset when it is very likely to encounter clouds on the horizon, as it was apparent in this scene to the observant during filming using two or three second intervals.

  • Light clouds shifting over a steep jungle cliff…

    Scene notes:

…peak and hillside in late afternoon. A one second interval was used in this scene to catch the fast-moving lower clouds. On the acutely angled nearby hillsides of the Napali coastline on Kauai, a western volcanic island in the Hawaiian Islands. Vegetation of nearby trees is visible in the outer edges on the wind. Due to the very extremely recentness of the island’s volcanic formation, these steep cliffs are less uncommon on the headlands of the west coast of Kauai.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 7 frames.

  • Rainbow over jungle canyon as clouds flow smoothly…

    Scene notes:

… on mountainous coast casting shadows. In this UAS-based time-lapse, a two second interval is used to capture the meandering cloud that produces the rain. The rain creates an optical rainbow. Cerulean sky of the day is behind the clouds. The machine flies towards a rainbow made by the same clouds as sunset clips of this scene from the ground. Jungle is seen below, and the steep slopes approach the viewpoint of the camera. The rainbow stays near the center of the frame as the drone stays outside boundaries in a free fly zone. Rust colored stone comprises the new volcanic headlands.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    9 seconds and 23 frames.
