    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The cloud approaches darkening the valley landscape below. An incoming Nimbus cloud blocks the light, rain can be seen in the distance, precipitating. The cloud takes up the whole of the sky.

    9 seconds and 5 frames.

  • Rainbow on heavy clouds in the distance on a rocky landscape in the desert rain

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The partial rainbow of the desert vanishes into thin air, rain moving out of the creation zone. Distant desert foothills have cloud shadows cast on them throughout.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 19 frames.

  • 6 of 7 | Napali Coast beach sunset scene

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A continuation of another clip (not in chronological order). The clouds will begin to glow as the sun comes out. High clouds cast shadows on the background headlands until the sun goes ‘below’ them in the sky. When this occurs, the foreground beach and ocean, as well as the middle and parts of the background, come fully into light. The clouds high in the sky are Cirrus.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    14 seconds and 8 frames.

  • Meadows beneath virga and other colorful clouds flowing at sunset time

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Precipitation that evaporates in the dryer air that it falls into is called Virga. These low-level fluffy and convective, as well as stratus clouds, are shown with camera facing northeast, away from the direction of the sunset. Pleasant meadows and hills underline the pink and transforming clouds, with the Virga appearing more stationary.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    14 seconds and 16 frames.

  • Night lightning illuminates passing thunderstorm – content warning for epilepsy

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The thunderstorm moves past the frame, right to left. The lightning illuminates the cloud stochastically as the city, outside of the frame, lights the clouds from below constantly. Leaving behind some of itself as it passes overhead, the ‘cell’ is moved by outflow from other storms.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 1 frame.

  • 2 of 4 | Over the Bay, planes land

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

…at San Francisco Airport, SFO at night under rainy clouds. Rain is shown entering the frame from left in the rain clouds over the airport as planes continue to land, moving against the rain’s direction in the frame, over the water. As with the other three in this series, the clouds are largely illuminated by city lights.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 7 frames.
