…rocky, snowy winter peaks. Symmetrical slopes dominate the frame, with rocks and small boulders among evergreens that lead up to near the very tips of these mountain tops. With light, low rolling clouds pouring over and piling on these steep slopes, jagged, snowy peaks poke out like jigsaw teeth.
Canyonlands, Utah, near the Anticline Overlook, where a long rocky road leads to these sudden cliffs
and viewpoint. Far below at right, a canyon is completely shadowed. In the foreground, a three-sided
precipice of a rocky outcrop. The left frame has a sheer cliff face of several hundred meters, as it
slowly brightens.

The deep dark of the ‘blue hour’ that comes after sunset, with just a few spots of cloud catching
glowing pink light, but the clouds continue moving in complex patterns. The mountains are having a
definite effect.

Mossy stone, frosty moss. Branches with the Spanish mosses and other frosty branches frame the
sunbeams from the shifting fog. The shadows from the trees are cast on the mossy rock at left, and
one tree in particular is two-thirds of the frame, wind-blown slightly over the years, causing it to
lean towards the steep slope, more mossy stones under it, sky-blue in the background.

Sunset with pink clouds rapidly changes to blue hour and nighttime, a huge boulder field is
silhouetted on the sky, which has high clouds that evaporate in the night quickly.
