  • Drone hovering into dusk, Sacramento skyline under…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… after-sunset lighting on high clouds. This mid-level cloud layer dominating the sky with small patches has clouds resembling Lenticulars. If the layer of cloud were thicker in its altitude, the lens shapes would be more apparent. A wispy row of Cirrus is absorbed in the cooling sky, pink colors fading with them, and below on the surface, a highway curves by a skyline of Sacramento, and extend west with lights of individual cars passing by in hyper speed; 90 x 60 mph = 12900mph apparent ‘playback’ speed. 90 represents the speed of the time-lapse over ‘real’ time. The Time-lapse length of the clip at 30 fps is eight seconds and ten frames.

  • Late day clouds over Miami 2 of 2

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

An ocean view looking on the Miami skyline from the east. Groups of taller, late-afternoon clouds, tilting towards their direction of wind, italicized and colorful, dwarf the tallest buildings, which are reflected on the calm waters of the bay. A three second interval is used. The clouds’ lighter colors are Fawn to Lime Oak.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    10 seconds and 18 frames.

  • San Francisco Bay Bridge traffic at dusk with skyline behind traffic and bay

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

From a unique viewpoint on Yerba Buena island, the Bay Bridge has two directions of traffic on different levels, and is a gateway into the city. The skyline is silhouetted on the evening light. The daylight is left with the sun and transitions to night, and thousands of cars and vehicles pass through the bridge during this time.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    13 seconds and 10 frames.

  • San Francisco street-view of downtown at night

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Looking down a side-street in mid-town San Francisco at a view of several large buildings including a sharply-pointed skyscraper called ‘Transamerica Pyramid’, an ominous looking building of office space and nearly 900 ft (300 m) tall. Busy city streets, with mid-2000s cars, cross paths, as traffic alternates turns moving with the traffic lights. This side street the observer looks down is dimly lit and mostly empty, a steep downward slope.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    32 seconds and 8 frames.

    Scene notes:

An original, recently remastered time-lapse of the sky with clouds.

  • Late day San Francisco Golden Gate with boats, fog, traffic, shadows rising

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A fog manages to cling to visibility moving into the bay, especially on the left of the frame, and shadows rise from the headlands on the hills. A cargo ship is seen mid-way through the clip exiting the bay. The city is fully visible in the distant left.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    13 seconds and 1 frame.

  • The Golden Gate at night with traffic flowing…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… both directions and airplanes taking off in the night sky. A constant flow of traffic pours through both ways of the Golden Gate Bridge over the bay, which lightly reflects the lights of the bridge itself. Airplanes, passenger liners are seen taking off and veering to the right throughout in the sky at upper portion of the frame this cloudless evening. The lights of the radio towers on Twin Peaks just left of the right pillar on the bridge rise high, a few miles away. The bay appears to be pouring in water constantly on the top surface.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    7 seconds and 25 frames.

  • 3 of 3 | Night skyline of Miami dwarfed under

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… reddish-tinged clouds from city lights as they pass by over. Demonstrating the power of city lights in the night sky, long exposures show the bright illumination of passing rain clouds. These clouds are too stable or short to create lightning, but can make massive precipitation, as is nearly every day in the summer in this part of the state of Florida. Their massive size is shadowed but easily seen in the upper-right. Helicopters or light airplanes are seen flying along the skyline’s altitude.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    9 seconds and 1 frame.
