On a precipice with no land in sight as the fog flows below and around the POV. The sun sets below
the horizon in the distance, and it is now dusk.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
2 minutes, 20 seconds.
In the woods late afternoon. A large bundle of mature Yellowflag Iris in the breeze under the
shifting tree shadows. A few small white flowers are also seen on the forest floor. Blue sky can be
seen in between the forest trees. The evergreen trees are blown in a gentle wind, which is reflected
in the movements of the shadows and plants of the foreground. Late in the clip, shadows have moved
onto the blossoms.
Playback length at 30 fps: 6 seconds, 25 frames.
…light rays through darker clouds slowly shifting. Because of a small patch of open sky, the sun
breaks free into the valley below in between dense cloud cover of Cumulus type. Far in the distance
is the barely visible horizon, which is cloaked in cloud shadow. This is the second clip in a scene
of a few that were taken within the same 90 minutes.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
8 seconds and 18 frames.
… with multiple layers of colorful glowing clouds at dusk. Looking up from a beach on Kauai, there
are different cloud layers to be seen above. As the sky darkens, the upper-level clouds are
illuminated from below. These small rain showers are common on the island chain where surface heating
makes them bloom in the sun during daylight and dissipate at night. The lower storm cloud is raining
moderately out-of-frame.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
12 seconds and 12 frames.
…with beach in foreground. Kauai is the furthest west island of the Hawaiian chain, and on the
furthest western beaches, nature has been left to prevail; although trucks ride on this lesser known
beach, it has a big enough area to accommodate the people enjoying the solitude and beauty that is
reminiscent of prehistory. A rainbow stretches and begins its second bow as conditions are nearing
perfect for this formation; the rain is at the right distance with the sun being at the correct angle
in the sky near sunset. As the day grows older the rainbow is more likely to appear, until a period
before sunset when it is very likely to encounter clouds on the horizon, as it was apparent in this
scene to the observant during filming using two or three second intervals.
Castellanus clouds (castle top clouds) are named for their towering appearance; these mid-level
clouds have the most intricate and brilliant lighting while shapeshifting above the wild forest hills
at sunset, oranges, golds, pinks, purples, and pale blues.
Time-lapse length (30 fps):
7 seconds and 21 frames.
