  • 2 of 2 Clouds at night illuminated partly by city…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

City lights under stars, aircraft flying over. The Big Dipper, the famous constellation, is observable at the top of the frame. The lower left corner has stratus clouds, but the sky is otherwise clear. A couple of airplanes can be seen flying through, under a starry night sky with a long exposure of several seconds and interval of just as much time.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    25 seconds.

  • Snow melting on small mushrooms hiding under shadows

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A fifteen second interval is used to capture the compacted snow melting, with shadows of the vegetation moving over three smaller mushrooms, with one largely hidden in shadows; the snow takes on an icy appearance as it melts.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 16 frames.

  • Panning past a tree trunk to a forest hillside in the afternoon

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A lichen-covered tree is panned past, towards a steep downward slope of a mossy-floored evergreen forest. Shadows pass the ground as they move with the sun’s angle later into the day. At clip’s end, a blue pond far below is seen in the upper-right frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    11 seconds and 23 frames.

  • 1 of 2 | A snowy and frosted forest hill is brightly lit up at sunset

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A very snowy forest hill with a steep slope, and only one mossy stone. A magic hour sunset illuminates the snow, and the snow takes on ambient light, pink, while some direct sunlight gets through the woods to shine directly on nearby, snowy branches, frosted from a night and day of freezing temperatures. A five second interval is used.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 15 frames.

  • Vivid light rays, sun beams looking up into winter…

    Scene notes:

A foggy forest as the fog moves just overhead. The sun is nearly centered, and light rays, sunbeams, pour through the trees because of the fog layer that is breaking right around the POV. Shadows are created and the glow has a defined depth from the tree shapes. The digital zoom slowly pulls away by eight percent or so. A two second interval is used.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    13 seconds and 19 frames.

  • Shadows move smoothly over forest floor and trees with Spanish moss

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Both Spanish and Reindeer moss is observable on the two largest tree trunks of this scene as the camera pans slowly down on the scene. At the outset of the clip, a red flower is seen at the right of the frame. Shadows move
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    14 seconds and 12 frames.

  • 2 of 2 | Panning past icicles and moss in the forest where shadows move

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Panning right, the icicles the frame is moving over drip as they slowly melt, and the shadows from the trees move over the snow and mossy ground; and a diagonal trunk, leaning from the hillside, casts a shadow across the frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    14 seconds and 2 frames.

  • Winter light rays on fog shining through frosty…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Snowy, frost-kissed branches which create shade. An exemplar of the beginning of winter in Oregon’s forest. Sopping wet Spanish Moss hangs from several thin branches is illuminated brilliantly in complex light rays, created from fog moving in and out of the scene. They stretch left-right from the small tree. More hanging beards of Spanish moss on the right help to create these shadows, and the sun slowly moves in the bright pale blue-sky that is barely seen behind these evergreen trees in the forest beyond.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    15 seconds.
