  • Afternoon on Yosemite Valley snowy river and clouds…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… orographically building on cliffs above. Snow falling in Yosemite Valley looking southwest, in an opening by the river. The snow covers the ground; trees loom on the left before the cliffs which have clouds piling up and past the sheer face of rock. The clouds also pour over the right-side monolith, the sun behind them, and in between the rapid vapors are patches of open sky. Farther out are more cliffs under the same majestic clouds. Slightly higher than the low clouds are other thinner clouds that roam in the opposing direction against the deep blue.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 18 frames.

  • On a hilltop, looking out at cloud shadows moving on fields

    Scene notes:

A nice spring day with modest lower-level clouds. Their fine definitions create sharp shadows to move over the woods and cypress trees below and beyond in this vast vista. All the way to the horizon the trees cover the gentle hills, which gently rise where the view limits. On the top half of the frame, the medium-small clouds are herd-like in the movements. The wind seems to caress the foreground treescape.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    21 seconds and 3 frames.

  • Stable air around Mt Si in Washington has a low fog…

    Scene notes:

… level with low wind, transformation. Once an active volcano, this profile captures its dome shape that is prominent from this green meadow. These gentle slopes seem like the only way to traverse the top without technical gear. This morning sky has no clouds. A three second interval is used. The meadow is around one quarter of the frame, and a tree line has a variety of broadleaf and evergreens, while the mountain itself looks solid green from trees. A stable blanket of ground-fog moves left-right, slowly meandering, with a few fragments closer and higher in the frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    16 seconds and 1 frame.

One of the shortest clips in the whole collection.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    3 seconds and 26 frames.

  • Just below beyond a high ridge, fog pours over and through trees mid-day

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

The stony cliff edge that is the foreground is being moved over on a dolly, observing flowing fog that is caught and rapidly flowing over the cresting hill’s ridge below.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    6 seconds and 13 frames.

  • On Mt Pilatus by Lucerne, Switzerland, clouds in winter below

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Lucerne Lake, 6 kilometers below, is the center of the frame’s focus. A snowy slope, and a sheer cliff ridge below Pilatus’ peak extends into a third of the frame. The surrounding lakeside far below is finely cultivated greenery and forest area. The outskirts of Lucerne’s municipalities are also visible below, as are the clouds which will have no chance of climbing the mountain’s top surface and extend as small formations to the tops of the foothills and snowy peaks far beyond to the southeast.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    9 seconds and 3 frames.
