  • 1 of 2 | From Pikes Peak, clouds cast shadows

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… on fog far below that appear to slosh on forest. The continuation of another clip (the camera has been moved). The clouds float over Pike’s Peak, a mountain that is high above the stratus fog below, transforming rapidly. The mountain, a combination of smooth and jagged slopes, careens downward (right). The stratus far below shifts on otherwise low wind. The vista is wide and vast, and the sky is blue with exception of the white Cirrostratus layer and aforementioned Cumulus that plays at point of view-level.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    17 seconds and 4 frames.

  • 1 of 3 | Öxnadalur, northern Iceland, under clouds

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… just barely hiding the precipice. Stratus clouds on Öxnadalur. The spire seen moving in and out of the fog is an aiguille. Slivers of blue light in the sky overhead persist.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    16 seconds and 16 frames.

    Scene notes:

… on fog far below that appear to slosh on forest. The continuation of another clip. The camera’s orientation and position has been adjusted.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    17 seconds and 27 frames.

  • View-level clouds on mountain slopes just beyond a void of fog

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

At and below the point of view, flowing clouds between foreground stones and background mountain ridge that dips into the clouds at right. The clouds are blown away by wind, while the flowing stratus layer is seemingly kept out by the silhouetted ridge. A ‘sun dog’ is visible on the higher clouds (not to be confused with the lens flare).
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    13 seconds and 09 frames.

  • On a volcanic landscape at sunset, panning far…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

… above the foggy vista below that shifts on light breeze. Physically panning left far above a Stratocumulus layer below the mostly sterile volcanic landscape at dusk. Many clips of Precipice are like one another, and some share the same scene at different times. All Precipice clips take place on a steep drop-off, even if that drop is out of frame. They all have in common a cloud or fog layer either at below the point of view’s elevation and are at or near sunset.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    6 seconds and 21 frames.
