Lucerne Lake, 6 kilometers below, is the center of the frame’s focus. A snowy slope, and a sheer
cliff ridge below Pilatus’ peak extends into a third of the frame. The surrounding lakeside far below
is finely cultivated greenery and forest area. The outskirts of Lucerne’s municipalities are also
visible below, as are the clouds which will have no chance of climbing the mountain’s top surface and
extend as small formations to the tops of the foothills and snowy peaks far beyond to the
southeast.

The green Ponderosa, standing alone in the Cerulean blue sky, spans the height of the frame, and
above, whisps of Cirrus clouds with very few low Cumulus clouds float in the sky. Shadowed, the tree
is affected by the wind, but only a gentle wind is pushing. This could be a ‘second life’ tree- one
that has been chopped down but grew back.
