eroded areas called cirques, as well as the striations of comprise this mountain that starts as
largely shadowed by low clouds. Bright areas of light on the slopes where the clouds break on a

Wind breezes on water, pristinely colored in the caldera of the dead volcano. The snow on the left
hand of the frame persists on the rim of the lake, and the sky has lower and high-level clouds-
Cirrus and contrails.

An orographically-formed cloud contained on the upper slopes of Mt Shasta, outer parts evaporating to
reveal it blanketing smoothly the peaks and peaet of the northern California mountain. The ancient
