  • Short time-lapse of fog shifting heights on frost…

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Frost covered, mossy trees, all on a forest slope. A distinctly Oregonian forest, with moss and trees covered in a moving fog that is just the same altitude as the point of view. Panning downwards from frost-covered moss of a defoliated tree, before the many pines and cypresses of varying age and size. At bottom and left of the frame, ferns and mossy trees make the forest carpet, sloping steeply downwards, with other limbs and trunks coming out of and back into the cold winter mist of pristine air quality.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    4 seconds.

  • Stable air around Mt Si in Washington has a low fog…

    Scene notes:

… level with low wind, transformation. Once an active volcano, this profile captures its dome shape that is prominent from this green meadow. These gentle slopes seem like the only way to traverse the top without technical gear. This morning sky has no clouds. A three second interval is used. The meadow is around one quarter of the frame, and a tree line has a variety of broadleaf and evergreens, while the mountain itself looks solid green from trees. A stable blanket of ground-fog moves left-right, slowly meandering, with a few fragments closer and higher in the frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    16 seconds and 1 frame.

  • Yellowflag Iris in the shifting woods on a hillside

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

In the woods late afternoon. A large bundle of mature Yellowflag Iris in the breeze under the shifting tree shadows. A few small white flowers are also seen on the forest floor. Blue sky can be seen in between the forest trees. The evergreen trees are blown in a gentle wind, which is reflected in the movements of the shadows and plants of the foreground. Late in the clip, shadows have moved onto the blossoms.
Playback length at 30 fps: 6 seconds, 25 frames.

  • Snow melting on small mushrooms hiding under shadows

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A fifteen second interval is used to capture the compacted snow melting, with shadows of the vegetation moving over three smaller mushrooms, with one largely hidden in shadows; the snow takes on an icy appearance as it melts.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    12 seconds and 16 frames.

  • Vivid light rays on fog shine head on in the forest above

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Fog, mist, at just the right altitude will create sunbeams, light rays, on trees. The frames pans downward slowly towards a felled tree trunk. Many fine details from the tree are in the center of the frame, and this is no coincidence; the object between the sun and camera will cast the shade.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    11 seconds and 19 frames.

  • Panning left on a creek with lush plants, flowers time-lapse

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Many mature Crocus plants with their flowers in bloom, purple, and following the small creek which comes through the composition far to near. Many meadow trees are spaced well apart, until the clearing beyond, and more woods. The grasses cover the terrain as the camera pans left to mossy trees and more flowers.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    8 seconds and 21 frames.

  • Panning past a tree trunk to a forest hillside in the afternoon

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

A lichen-covered tree is panned past, towards a steep downward slope of a mossy-floored evergreen forest. Shadows pass the ground as they move with the sun’s angle later into the day. At clip’s end, a blue pond far below is seen in the upper-right frame.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    11 seconds and 23 frames.

  • Mossy stone in winter as icy branches are shading, making the fog have ray appearance

    View with alternate video source

    Scene notes:

Mossy stone, frosty moss. Branches with the Spanish mosses and other frosty branches frame the sunbeams from the shifting fog. The shadows from the trees are cast on the mossy rock at left, and one tree in particular is two-thirds of the frame, wind-blown slightly over the years, causing it to lean towards the steep slope, more mossy stones under it, sky-blue in the background.
    Time-lapse length (30 fps):
    10 seconds and 25 frames.
